On 1 September 2019, the dynamic sommelier Franck Crouvezier sadly passed away.

During the 1990s, Franck was an instrumental figure in the development of the Australian Sommeliers Association in Sydney. As then sommelier and co-owner of the Italian restaurant Bel Mondo, Franck developed a professional training course to educate Sydney’s next generation of sommeliers and floor staff, and helped to set up the nation’s first sommelier awards.

On behalf of Sommeliers Australia, thank you Franck for your dedication to the art and service of sommellerie. The role of the sommelier in Australia today would not have the same impact had it not been for visionaries such as yourself. Our thoughts are with those who were closest to you.
