Ten Minutes by Tractor is one of Australia’s leading producers of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay based on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. In 2006, we opened our award winning restaurant and cellar door in its current location in Main Ridge – home to our three original vineyards.

Over the past 25 years, we have worked incredibly hard to develop our vineyards, winery and restaurant and have been very fortunate to bring together talented people from Australia and across the world, who share our passion and love of what we do.

About the Restaurant

Ten Minutes by Tractor is a two-hatted fine dining restaurant located in the beautiful hinterland of the Mornington Peninsula, only one hour from Melbourne.

The restaurant reflects our philosophy to making wine; that is, attention to detail and showcasing the wonderful local produce the Mornington Peninsula has to offer.

We have been at the forefront of fine dining on the Peninsula for over 15 years. The 1000+ wine program continually receives accolades, including The Good Food Guide Victorian Wine List of the Year 2023 and GOLD Finalist – Star Wine By the Glass List 2023, and the list is hailed as “one of the best in the country”. The wines we select for our list are internationally recognised for their quality and sense of place.

About the role

You will be an experienced Sommelier who is enthusiastic and passionate about fine-dining, with the ability to provide guests with a range of wine selections and wine pairings to complement our tasting menus.

As a member of the restaurant team, you will display strong leadership skills, while being collaborative and sharing ideas to further progress our overall service offering, ensuring all guests receive an exceptional experience and the highest standards of service.

As Head Sommelier, you will have responsibility for all administrative aspects of managing the wine program including; purchasing and cost control, curating the list, stock control, staff management & training, and running wine service in the restaurant.

You will be efficient in POS systems, proficient in excel and pricing methodologies, able to manage stock control, cellar management and sharing your wine knowledge and passion with the restaurant team.

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience running a wine program as Head Sommelier
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and develop a team
  • Exceptional service skills and communication skills
  • Professional, punctual and well-presented
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Strong work ethic
  • Genuine desire to evolve, adapt and progress your career
  • CMS Certified equivalent or higher required
  • Hospitality management qualifications are desirable
