New Zealand Winegrowers is excited to be partnering with Sommeliers Australia to present The Somewhat Sommit 2023 and The Altogether Unique Tasting.

The Somewhat Sommit is based on New Zealand Winegrower’s original Sommit format, hosted by Cameron Douglas MS and Stephen Wong MW, and will be held in Australia for the first time. Cameron and Stephen will present wines and lead discussions that deep dive into the nuances, intricacies and future direction of New Zealand wine.

The Pinot Noir flight will be a highlight of the tasting, along with smaller planted varieties and new wave New Zealand wines.

Applications for the Somewhat Sommit to be held in Melbourne and Brisbane* are now open, presenting an opportunity for a limited number of sommeliers and wine professionals to participate in this uniquely New Zealand Wine experience.  We invite you to apply now.

Somewhat Sommit participants will take part in a three-hour tasting and tutorial followed by lunch. The Altogether Unique Tasting of New Zealand wine will follow in the afternoon, 2pm – 5pm and will be open to trade and media.

The Somewhat Sommit is open to Sommeliers Australia Professional members with a minimum WSET Level 3 or equivalent industry experience.

Applications close on 22 May 2023. A selection committee from New Zealand Winegrowers and Sommeliers Australia will review all applications. Successful applicants will be advised by Friday 26 May.
