Name: James Young, National Sales Manager at Torbreck. |
What was your ‘watershed’ wine moment? I was lucky enough to rent a room in the home of a woman who was a wine distributor. She imported a range of amazing wines and was very generous with the wines and her knowledge of wine in general. |
What is the most memorable moment you have experienced during your wine journey? The year I spent working full time in a Victorian winery was really memorable; getting a full understanding of what it takes to make great wine, from vineyard to seeing the wine in a bottle. |
How would you describe your wine collection? Limited but often involves swaps with mates. |
What are you enjoying drinking right now? Chenin Blanc from Vouvray and Bandol style Rosés. Our Rosé at Torbreck is based around these dry Mataro/Mourvedre style wines. Both wines are great by themselves in the warm weather but even better with seafood at this time of the year. |
What do you think the wine industry will see more or less of in 2021? Hopefully less faulty wines being excused as ‘natural’. |
Torbreck is the proud sponsor of Chris Ryan in the Best Sommelier of Australia 2020. |
