Sommeliers Australia is delighted to announce the two recipients of the D&I – ASI Diploma Scholarships, an education and mentoring initiative developed to support women/non-binary sommeliers in their preparation for the ASI Diploma assessment to be held on 14 March 2022.

The D&I – ASI Diploma Scholarship received a number of applications from working sommeliers all displaying a high calibre of professionalism and drive to further develop their career paths. The quality of applications made the task of reviewing the submissions all the more difficult, forcing the assessment panel to request another 24 hours to deliberate!

Receiving the two Scholarships are Natasha Peppiatt (Caterina’s Cucina e Bar) and Hannah Day (Cutler & Co.). Congratulations!

Sommeliers Australia would like to thank the two private donors, whose generous donations will cover the ASI Diploma registration costs for Natasha and Hannah.

The association is very grateful for the support of these two individuals, in helping us make such important D&I initiatives a reality.

A recurring theme through all of the applications was the limited number of mentoring options available to women/non-binary sommeliers. In light of this, the Scholarship assessment panel has created a special networking and training opportunity for the unsuccessful Scholarship applicants.

These sommeliers will be invited to a series of mentoring sessions with leading sommeliers plus have the opportunity to attend a pre-Diploma preparation session alongside the D&I Scholars and Best Sommelier of Asia-Oceania competition candidates, supported by ASI Diploma graduates currently working in the industry.

Congratulations to all of the Scholarship applicants and best of luck training for the ASI Diploma!
