Over the last two years there has been a marked evolution in the economic landscape, which has prompted Sommeliers Australia to review the outcomes that the association seeks for its professional members, the industry and wider society.

With the Australian hospitality and wine industries continuing to be affected by isolation health orders, staff shortages and increased costs  ̶  all major issues beyond their control  ̶  Sommeliers Australia has responded to feedback from members and supporters, implementing two significant changes which will affect members:

1) We have made the membership renewal process faster and easier, and

2) We have shifted the prices of our Professional and Enthusiast memberships to better reflect the expectations of these groups.

1. Easier membership renewal

Sommeliers Australia has taken onboard feedback from current and previous members about the membership renewal process. From 1 July 2022, the association will move to an automated membership renewal process.

This automated renewal process will save our members, and the Sommeliers Australia admin team, time and effort by streamlining the process.

What does this mean?

Previously all members renewed their membership manually by paying their membership renewal annually via an invoice sent to their inbox, or via their My Account dashboard.

On 30 June 2022, all current 2021/2022 members will receive a membership renewal invoice for the 2022/2023 period in their inbox. The invoice will be dated 30 June 2022, allowing members to include their membership fees in their 2012/2022 tax return.

NOTE: If you purchased your Sommeliers Australia membership during May/June 2022, your membership is already activated for automated renewals.

In paying for the renewal of their membership for the 2022/2023 period, members will be opting in to future membership renewals being automated, with payments being automatically deducted annually on 30 June from the member’s obscured and securely stored,* valid credit card.

Members can opt out of future automated membership renewal payments at anytime ahead of 30 June. Simply email [email protected] to request.

 2. Membership prices

Again, after consultation with members, Sommeliers Australia will implement changes to the annual membership fees, as of mid-June 2022.

Professional members will pay $100 per annum for their membership, while receiving an increase in benefit value this year, and more in years to come.

Visit the Professional Membership webpage for the full list of benefits.

Enthusiast members will pay $125 per annum for their membership, while getting access to the full range of membership benefits, that continue to offer great value for money.

Visit the Enthusiast Membership webpage for the full list of benefits.

Company membership prices will remain the same for the 2022/2023 period, and continue to offer excellent value for organisations.
