In this ‘Discover Variety’ session, we’re exploring the age old tradition of Sake!
Join Sommeliers Australia’s Loïc Avril (Lucas Group), WSET Sake educator Melissa Mills (Sake Connect) and sommelier/educator/sake aficionado, Leanne Altmann (Trader House Group) for this 90 minute session, as they discuss and taste four distinct sake styles.
Understand the journey from the rice paddy and solid-state grain to the enticing unique alcoholic beverage known as ‘sake’. Explore the spectrum of sake styles focusing on key ingredients, the role of micro-organisms, and flavour profiles. Uncover food pairing relationships then step into a sake brewer’s boots and examine the production choices that shaped the sake.
