Sommeliers Australia’s “Warriors of Wine” Sommeliers Long Lunch is back in Sydney, on Sunday 19 May at ESQ Bar and Dining.

This year, our three “Warriors” have been selected not only from the restaurant floor, but from multiple facets within the world of wine, bringing experience from retail, distribution, and education settings. All three are consummate wine professionals!

Working with the theme ‘Unveiling the sommelier’s guise: A journey into a wine’s perfect match’ our talented Warriors will draw the battle lines by showcasing their best wine matches alongside three amazing courses prepared by ESQ’s talented kitchen team, competing for the title of “Warrior of Wine”.

This year’s Warriors are:

Vikki Lou Peng, Sommelier // Aria Restaurant

Jaime Clark, Business Manager // Joval Wines

Kim Bickley, Wine Educator, Judge and Consultant // Thomas Wines; Wine Selectors

 

Accompanying the three-course ‘battle rounds’ will be an aperitif on arrival, plus a selection of Bruny Island Cheeses served with a delicious selection of wines provided by our friends at Vinous Solutions. In total 11 wines will be served.

The winner of the “Warrior of Wine” title will be determined by the gathered wine and food lovers of Sydney, who will cast votes after each course for their favourite wine pairing.

Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to see three of the state’s best wine professionals put through their paces, but the lunch will also include a fundraising raffle and silent auction. Funds raised will go towards supporting Sommeliers Australia’s Best Sommelier of Australia 2024 competition.

MORE INFORMATION:

Timing – Doors will open from 12.30 for aperitifs, sitting down at 1pm for lunch. Proceedings will conclude around 4.30pm.

Seating – Seating will be on shared tables, with seats allocated on the day.

Menu – Set three course menu, plus cheese course. Please ensure dietary requirements are made known at the time of booking.
