The Wine Scholar Guild is an highly regarded, internationally recognised Wine Education body which provides in depth insight into specific wine producing countries.

The Italian Wine Scholar prep course is a 4 session course designed to address the needs of the inquisitive wine enthusiast and aspiring wine professional alike. As a foundation course, IWS Prep remains accessible but is content-rich and full of cultural highlights and fine Italian wine.

The course provides an introduction to Italy, explores its key wine regions and delivers core information on 39 of the country’s need-to-know wines.

This course is delivered over four sessions on the following dates;

03/03/22: 6:30pm – 8:30pm – Introduction and Sparkling Wine of Italy

05/03/22: 12pm – 3pm – Northern Italian Reds and Whites

10/03/22: 6:30pm – 9:00pm – Central Italian Reds and Whites

17/03/22: 6:30pm – 9:00pm – Southern Italian Reds and Whites

31/03/22: 6:30pm – Exam

Location: Wine House Upstairs Tasting Rooms, 133 Queensbridge St, Southbank

Premium wine tasting is a feature of each session, along with valuable insight into the content along with learning aids. The price of the course includes access to the IWSprep online resources for 1 year.

The exam consists of a 45 minute multiple choice theory paper and on passing students receive a certificate, pin and ‘IWSprep’ post-nominal.

* Only available to fully vaccinated patrons, in line with Victorian Government COVID-19 directives.

Please note: No refunds will be issued within 10 working days prior to the start of the course. Before that period a 75% refund is allowed if a student cancels their enrolment. A 100% refund will apply if Wine House cancels. There is a re-sit exam fee of $150 if a student does not attend the exam for any reason or fails the exam.
