I AM:
Stan Zheng, Sommelier at The Source Restaurant, MONA (TAS Committee)

I BECAME A COMMITTEE MEMBER TO:
make our tasting events in Tasmania a place where people can talk about wine, eager to share their knowledge and can bond each other.

MY BACKGROUND IS:
As a former urban planner and city economist from Beijing, I felt in love with wine in 2015. When designing and planning a city, I tried to build the ‘spirit of a place’ to connect people and the land. I found the same philosophy in wine. A good bottle of wine tells the spirit of the land, people and history behind it. In 2019, I made a bold career move: working in the wine industry and telling the story of ‘spirit of a place’ through wines.

ONE THING PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME IS…
Before I was the spicy food lover, but in 2019, I gave up spicy food for a more sensitive palate.

THE MOTTO I LIVE BY IS:
Every choice you made is the best choice for you. Focus on today.

MY GREATEST INDULGENCE IS:
Sparkling wine: Champagne, Cava, Tassie bubbles!!!

WHAT I ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING A PART OF THE WINE INDUSTRY IS THAT…
People in the wine industry love sharing anything about wine.
