I AM: James Boden, Head Sommelier at National Wine Centre of Australia (SA Committee) |
I BECAME A COMMITTEE MEMBER TO: Interact with likeminded wine folk and work on creating a more inclusive community within South Australia. |
MY BACKGROUND IS: I have been a Sommelier for the last 9 years working across both Western Australia and South Australia. I got into the Sommelier role by chance and my first job was at Rockpool. Talk about getting thrown in the deep end. |
ONE THING PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME IS… Aside from wine, my background is in middle distance running where I competed nationally as a 400m and 800m runner. |
MY ROLE MODEL IS: I don’t really have a role model but I take a lot out of watching great hospo people at their jobs. I get a buzz from watching them dance around the floor and that inspires me to be better. |
THE PERFECT MEAL WOULD BE: Cooking anything with my wife and my family and opening the next bottle we have been waiting to drink. The company is what makes it great, everything else is a bonus. |
WHAT I ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING A PART OF THE WINE INDUSTRY IS … Having people want to chat at a party or gathering and always being able to rock up with some good booze. |
