I AM:
James Boden, Head Sommelier at National Wine Centre of Australia (SA Committee)
I BECAME A COMMITTEE MEMBER TO:
Interact with likeminded wine folk and work on creating a more inclusive community within South Australia.
MY BACKGROUND IS:
I have been a Sommelier for the last 9 years working across both Western Australia and South Australia. I got into the Sommelier role by chance and my first job was at Rockpool. Talk about getting thrown in the deep end.
ONE THING PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME IS…
Aside from wine, my background is in middle distance running where I competed nationally as a 400m and 800m runner.
MY ROLE MODEL IS:
I don’t really have a role model but I take a lot out of watching great hospo people at their jobs. I get a buzz from watching them dance around the floor and that inspires me to be better.
THE PERFECT MEAL WOULD BE:
Cooking anything with my wife and my family and opening the next bottle we have been waiting to drink. The company is what makes it great, everything else is a bonus.
WHAT I ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING A PART OF THE WINE INDUSTRY IS …
Having people want to chat at a party or gathering and always being able to rock up with some good booze.
