Let us feature our next committee member, Ella Stening for this week’s ‘Spotlight on Committee’ series…
Ella brings in a big-picture attitude and a joyful disposition in all things hospitality to our NSW Committee. Their love for the grape has taken them to making wines in South Africa, Burgundy, the Adelaide Hills and most recently, Hungary; and they have worked at some of Australia’s best wine merchants, winemakers and restaurants.
Ella was awarded Dux at Sommelier Australia’s Education Scholarship in 2022. They also ran the Wine Education and Development program for Brisbane group Anyday, before returning to Sydney for the Head Sommelier position for Raja, and Ezra.
Ella’s passion and curiosity extends out from the world of wines, into social change and other creative spaces. They are one of the founding members of Sydney-based charity, Women and Revolution.
Their heart is always geared towards pushing for equality and accountability in the hospitality workplace, and this is realised in their everyday interaction with their peers, colleagues, and guests alike.
