For this week, let’s highlight Foni Politt for our ‘Spotlight on Committee’ series…
Foni was born in Melbourne, and her love for travel brought her to Italy, the UK and Canada. Her experiences around the world opened her eyes to the world of wines and fostered her love for it and the hospitality industry, so much so that when she moved back to Perth, she opened Mayfair Lane Pub and Dining Room with her husband Chris.
Foni’s love for the industry, and her commitment to encourage others to ignite their own passion in wine, makes her well suited in her role in the WA Committee for Sommeliers Australia. She is a WSET Diploma graduate, a certified WSET educator, and is also a candidate for the Master of Wine program.
While overseas, Foni has received the Wine Spectator’s Award for Excellence for curating a wine list made entirely of Greek wines. The accolades have continued with Mayfair Lane. This includes taking home the Jury Prize at the World of Fine Wine Awards in London, where 94 distinguished venues around the world were considered.
