From 23 September, fine wine and rare spirit lovers globally will be able to bid on a unique set of 73 auction lots in The Golden Vines Fine Wine, Rare Spirit & Experience Charity Auction.

Proceeds from the auction will go to Gerard Basset Foundation (Charity Registration Number: 1193020) to fund diversity and inclusion wine education programmes globally.

The Foundation expects to raise over £1 million from the auction in the hope of supporting 23 institutional and community groups (including Sommeliers Australia) from around the world that have submitted funding requests to be considered for grants from the Foundation.

Organised by Liquid Icons, the online auction – using an eCatalogue with embedded WPA technology – allows for bid to be submitted globally.

Each auction lot will feature large formats or rarities, as well as a ‘money-can’t-buy’ experience from many of the world’s top fine wine estates and spirit distilleries.

The auction will close on the night of The Golden Vines Awards Ceremony & Dinner to be held in London on 7 October.

The Gerard Basset Foundation will utilise the proceeds to fund diversity & inclusion wine education programmes globally, including the headline Golden Vines Diversity Scholarships worth £55,000 each to a black or ethnic minority student wishing to undertake the Master of Wine or Master Sommelier programmes. We have received 23 applications for funding from institutional and community partners globally, including from USA, Canada, UK, France, Ghana, South Africa and Australia.
