Many people really inspired me during my career but one person represents everything great in the industry. Jonathan Ross MS, is an accomplished Sommelier, winemaker and importer. Most importantly, a great mentor and friend.
If I could only take two things to a desert island (that has a fridge), they would be:
A pocket knife for survival purposes and a fair amount of champagne for sanity!
How can a producer get their wine/beverage on my list?
It depends on a lot of factors, you need to take the chef’s cuisine in consideration, the philosophy of the restaurant. And before our own preferences, we need to think what our guests wants, then it comes naturally.
What I hope to get out of competing in the Best Sommelier of Australia 2020…
The experience by itself is amazing. Getting to meet incredible people and being inspired by them is priceless. I would love to advocate for the industry. We need to have the Sommelier profession more recognised and acknowledged by the government.
