What inspired me to become a sommelier:
Working at Rockpool Bar and Grill. The level of professionalism and standard of service I hadn’t seen before, I was excited to go to work every day and learn. I was fortunate enough to have been invited to go to the wine team’s trainings on Saturday. The team environment and people pushing each other definitely got me to where I am today.
My role model is:
My dad, celebrated his 40th year as a chef this year and is still excited about going to work every day. I want to be that enthusiastic when I’ve been in the industry for that long.
My favourite food and beverage match is:
Laksa and off-dry Riesling, I really love 2015 Dönnhoff Oberhauser Leistenberg Kabinett.

What I hope to get out of competing in the Best Sommelier of Australia 2020
Competing with the best, this is my first year in the top 12 and this is a huge honour already, I hope to improve my skills and knowledge, to better myself and prepare for future exams.
