What a night for the Australian wine community. 🥂 What a night for the Australian wine community. 🥂

Last Monday, we gathered at Lee Ho Fook @leehofooksyd to celebrate the conclusion of the 2026 Sommelier Challenge: Finding Australia's Best Sommelier of the Year, sharing an unforgettable evening with more than 60 friends, colleagues and industry supporters.

A huge congratulations to our outstanding finalists Justin Biskup @motosomm, Clotilde Candusso @clotilde_cdn, Isaac Pockney @ip_vino and Charlie Richards @charlie.richards_ — whose passion, knowledge and professionalism made this year's competition one to remember. And, of course, congratulations to Paolo Saccone MS @vinobypaolo_ms, crowned Australia's Best Sommelier of the Year. Paolo will proudly represent Australia at the ASI Best Sommelier of the World competition in Portugal this October.

A heartfelt thank you to our exceptional judging panel — Sarah Andrew DipWSET @sarahandrewwine, Andrés Aragón MS @andres10aragon_ms and Louella Mathews @louthesomm — for your expertise, generosity and dedication throughout the competition.

To our Gold Sponsors — House of Arras @houseofarras , Ruinart @ruinart, Jim Barry Wines @jimbarrywines and Pewsey Vale Vineyard @pewseyvalevineyard — thank you for helping us raise a glass to Australia's finest sommeliers.

Special thanks to @antipodes our offical water sponsor to the Challenge and the dinner.

Finally a huge shout out to Brian Chase Olsen @notchaseolson from Blend PR @blendpr_ for the media coverage and Bella Wild @isabellagwild for beautifully capturing the evening.

To everyone who joined us, supported our finalists and continues to champion Australia's sommelier community — thank you. Here's to another incredible year of learning, camaraderie and excellence.

Can we do it all again? ✨
Think you know Chenin Blanc? Think again. One gr Think you know Chenin Blanc? Think again.

One grape. Three continents. Endless expressions.

Join Sommeliers Australia's @sophie.a_j.k (@parkergroupau) as she uncorks one of the wine world's most versatile—and underrated—grape varieties at Perth's @fleurtherestaurant

Travel from the iconic vineyards of the Loire Valley to South Africa's legendary old vines and Australia's exciting modern expressions, discovering why Chenin Blanc has become a favourite among sommeliers and winemakers alike.

With its vibrant acidity, distinctive texture, and spectrum of floral, fruit and spice characters, Chenin Blanc effortlessly bridges the gap between Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, making it one of the most food-friendly white wines you'll ever taste.

Whether you're a devoted Chenin fan or simply curious to explore beyond the familiar, this guided tasting will have you comparing styles, uncovering regional differences, and discovering why this remarkable variety deserves a place in every wine lover's repertoire.

✨ One grape. Endless possibilities.
