In this ‘Discover Variety’ session, we delve into the oft maligned – yet equally capable of brilliance – white variety Viognier.
Close to extinction in the 1960s, with only 14 hectares under vine worldwide (all grown in France), Viognier has seen a resurgence of sorts over the past few decades, with plantings now grown in virtually every region.
Join Sommeliers Australia’s Yu Kurosawa (Market Eating House), winemaker Cathy Howard (Whicher Ridge Vineyard) and Jessica Hill Smith (Yalumba Wines), as they uncover three wines from key regions that show this variety at its best.
