As the Australian bushfire crisis continues, reports have been circulated by the NSW Wine Industry Association that vineyards and winery assets in the NSW region of Tumbarumba have also been severely affected by bushfires.
Other wine regions, although unaffected directly by the fires, have been clouded by smoke haze for weeks. It is still too early to determine whether the 2020 vintage in these areas have been smoke affected.
No wine related fundraising projects have been set up in New South Wales, however Sommeliers Australia encourages members, and friends in wine, to support those affected through listing/purchasing wine from New South Wales and to visit wineries in the Tumbarumba region.
