SUMMARY:[VIC] French Wine Scholar Guild
DESCRIPTION:Become a French Wine Scholar! \nThe French Wine Scholar Study and Certification program provides current\, accurate and in-depth information on the wines and wine regions of France. \nDeveloped and administrated by the Wine Scholar Guild with the support of the French Ministry of Agriculture\, this specialization program is designed for advanced students of wine\, whether professionals or serious wine hobbyists. \nStudents who follow this in-depth curriculum and pass the exam will earn the French Wine Scholar™ (FWS) post-nominal (e.g. John Smith\, FWS). \nSet yourself apart from your peers. Specialize in the wines of France! \n  \nStudy with Wine House: \nThis French Wine Scholar Course will run Wednesdays from 6:30pm-8:30pm\, starting on 26th February for 8 weeks\, with two intensive Saturdays on March 21st and April 18th. The exam will be held on Wednesday April 22nd at 6:30pm. \n\nDates summary: \n– 6:30-8:30pm\, Wednesday: 26/2/20\, 4/3/20\, 11/3/20\, 18/3/20\, 25/3/20\, 1/4/20\, 8/4/20\, 15/4/20 \n– 11am-5pm\, Saturday: 21/3/20\, 18/4/20 \nExam: 6:30pm\, 22nd April 2020 \nLocation: Wine House Upstairs Tasting Rooms\, 133 Queensbridge St\, Southbank \nInstructed by: Gill Sykes\, DipWSET\, FWS \nTuition: $850 – includes tuition\, all wine samples\, study materials\, access to online resources and exam registration fee \n  \nWho is this program for? \nThe French Wine Scholar Program covers French wine law\, grape varieties\, viticulture\, winemaking and all of the French wine regions. This core body of knowledge is important whether you sell wine\, buy wine or teach about wine. \nThe FWS program allows wine professionals to set themselves apart from their peers by specializing in the wines of France. \nIt is a great resource and supplement for students of wine moving toward advanced general wine study programs such as WSET Diploma\, Master of Wine program\, Court of Master Sommeliers’ Advanced Sommelier (and up) or Certified Wine Educator. \nWhile not a prerequisite\, we recommend that students successfully complete at least the lower level course from one of these organizations before entering the FWS program. \n  \nWhy Study French Wine? \nAll students of wine eventually discover France. Some use it as the starting point to begin their vinous exploration while others arrive in France after having sampled the wines of other countries. There is a world within French wine and the wines and wine styles of France have certainly impacted the entire wine world. \nMany reference France as the benchmark for wine production. But this is not just because of the quality and quantity of wines it produces. This long-standing reputation is due to the fact that internationally recognized grape varieties of high caliber such as Sauvignon Blanc\, Chardonnay\, Chenin Blanc\, Pinot Gris\, Merlot\, Malbec\, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are all native to France! \nBy studying French wine\, the student gains a deeper appreciation for the grape and its travels and a reference point for Old World/New World comparisons \n  \nTerms and conditions: \nNo refunds will be issued within 10 working days prior to the start of the course. Before that period a 75% refund is allowed if a student cancels their enrolment. A 100% refund will apply if Wine House cancels. Please note there is a re-sit exam fee of $150 if a student does not attend the exam for any reason. \n  \nEnquiries: courses@winehouse.com.au or (03) 9698 8000
