Four Sommeliers required for Riedel Comparative Tasting event
When: 5.00pm – 9.00pm, Wednesday 19 September
Where: The Green Room, Quay Restaurant, Overseas Passenger Terminal, The Rocks
About the Event Riedel is launching a new series called “Performance” at this cocktail party event, with guests including media, hospitality trade, industry partners, and retailers.
They need four sommeliers to present comparative tastings, demonstrating how their newest grape-varietal-specific glasses optimise and balance wines. Each sommelier will present one wine varietal over the course of the event from 6pm-9pm, comparing the new glass to one other Riedel glass.
The sommeliers will be versed and introduced to the glassware prior, and will be provided with a cheat sheet to refer to throughout the evening. The aim of the event is to educate and entertain guests on how Riedel has invested four decades into R&D on glass shapes, so the wine drinker knows they have the optimum product in hand for wine enjoyment.
Each sommelier will be offered $300 to work the duration of the 4 hour event.
About Performance Since the introduction of the Sommeliers series in the 1970s, the Riedel brand has become known for its ingenuity in the world of smart wine glasses. This year, the 10th and 11th generations, Georg and Maximilian Riedel, have joined forces to bring oenophiles their most technologically advanced series yet.
Performance combines decades of experience in grape varietal specific glassware with an optic design that heightens the drinker’s experience. When put to the test, Riedel discovered the glasses emphasised wine’s characteristics differently to their previous series. Performance shows more minerality than fruit, and demonstrates more of the terroir, extending the length of the aftertaste and highlighting structure on the palate.
