SUMMARY:[NSW] Masterful Musar - Lebanese History Through the Glass
DESCRIPTION:Sommeliers Australia\, in partnership with Negociants and Samuel Smith & Son\, proudly presents Masterful Musar – Lebanese History Through the Glass.\n\nJoin us for a rare and compelling masterclass exploring the legacy of Château Musar\, one of the world’s most distinctive and storied wine estates. Sommeliers Australia’s Hanna Brugnolli (Sahtein) is honoured to welcome Ralph Hochar (Château Musar) who will lead this immersive session and share a deeply personal perspective on Musar’s philosophy\, heritage\, and evolution.\n\nThis masterclass will explore the idea of ancient continuity in Lebanese wine—where tradition is not preserved in the past\, but expressed dynamically in every vintage. From the influence of terroir in the Bekaa Valley to Musar’s unwavering commitment to authenticity and minimal intervention\, the wines stand as a powerful testament to the enduring spirit of Lebanese winemaking.\n\n\nThrough a guided tasting\, gain insight into Château Musar as a benchmark for wine as cultural expression and living history. Alongside\, a small curated selection of other Lebanese wines—producers whose global presence today owes much to the path Musar helped forge—offers a broader perspective on the evolution and future of Lebanese winemaking. \nA must-attend for sommeliers and wine professionals seeking to expand their perspective on heritage\, terroir\, and the evolving identity of Lebanese wine.

SUMMARY:[WA] Blind Tasting Group 14
DESCRIPTION:Tasting wines blind is the best way to improve your palate. But three things often stand in the way – it can be costly\, it takes up time\, and it can be intimidating. \nOur monthly blind tasting sessions eliminate all of these obstacles\, because for 1 hour it’s just between you and what’s in the glass! Simply book in\, turn up\, taste and expand your tasting ability\, with guidance from Sommeliers Australia’s host Foni Pollitt (Mayfair Lane Pub & Dining Room). At the conclusion of each bracket\, Foni will give a short summary on the key pointers for the tasting of the wine\, and how to get to the correct conclusions. \nFour different wines – two whites and two reds – will be tasted each month. Wines are chosen primarily for their typicity and are a mixed bag of varieties\, origins\, quality and price points. \nSuitable for anyone in the industry wanting to practice blind tasting in a structured way\, those studying WSET and CMS\, or anyone looking to shake up their ‘cellar palate’.

SUMMARY:[VIC] Warriors of Wine - Fundraising Long Lunch - MELBOURNE
DESCRIPTION:Warriors of Wine returns to Melbourne on Sunday 21 June for a unique and interactive dining experience\, bringing together three top Melbourne sommeliers in a friendly yet competitive challenge. \nWe are delighted to announce this year’s competitors: \n\nLisa Harris (Cardwell Cellars)\nMarco Oliveri (Reine and La Rue)\nElisa Perissotto (Joval Wines)\n\nOver a three-course lunch\, each ‘warrior’ will carefully select and present a wine to pair with each dish. At the end of each course\, guests will rank the wine pairings using a Brownlow-style voting system: \n\n3 tokens for their favourite pairing\n2 tokens for their second choice\n1 token for their third choice\n\nThe Sommeliers Australia committee will count the tokens at the end of each round and announce the course winner. The sommelier with the most votes overall will be crowned Warrior of Wine Melbourne 2026. \nBeyond the competition\, this event is a critical fundraiser for Sommeliers Australia\, supporting its ongoing work in the industry. The afternoon will also feature an auction and raffle\, with the chance to take home exceptional wine-related goodies and hospitality experiences. \nJoin us at the Panama Dining Room for an afternoon of celebrating the craft of the Sommelier\, outstanding food and wine\, and spirited competition – all for a great cause. \n  \nFurther information: \nTiming: Doors will open from 12pm for aperitifs\, with lunch starting at 12.30pm which will conclude around 4pm. \nSeating: Seating will be on shared tables\, with seating allocated on the day. \nMenu: A set three-course menu\, plus cheese course. Please ensure dietary requirements are made known at the time of booking. \n  \nMore about this year’s Melbourne Warriors: \nLisa Harris is the Wine Buyer and Venue Manager at Abbotsford’s Cardwell Cellars\, bringing over a decade of experience in hospitality. Her career began in London before evolving across Melbourne’s dynamic dining scene. She spent three years at the three-hatted Amaru in Armadale\, where she developed a deep appreciation for wine pairing within a degustation context. At Cardwell Cellars\, Lisa curates a constantly evolving\, geographically driven wine selection\, with a particular focus on the diversity and character of Central and Eastern European wines. Driven by curiosity and a commitment to ongoing learning\, she continues to refine her craft while creating thoughtful\, engaging wine experiences for her guests. \nMarco Oliveri born in Torino\, Italy\, Marco Oliveri began his career seven years ago in a traditional Michelin-starred Piedmontese restaurant while completing his studies with the Associazione Italiana Sommelier. Now based in Australia\, he is Senior Sommelier at Reine & La Rue. A Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers\, currently preparing for the Advanced level\, Marco sees wine pairing as the purest expression of his craft—where precision meets intuition in the synergy between food and wine. \nElisa Perissotto Italian-born\, Elisa moved to Australia in 2014 and quickly found her place on the restaurant floor. Since then\, she has built an impressive career across some of Sydney and Melbourne’s most respected dining rooms\, including Grossi Florentino\, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal\, and Gimlet at Cavendish House. At Gimlet\, she played a key role in the opening team and helped shape a wine program that was awarded Australia’s Best Wine List of the Year in 2024. An Advanced Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers\, Elisa remains a storyteller at heart\, now bringing that same energy and perspective to her role representing Joval Wines. \n

SUMMARY:[QLD] Blind Tasting Group 13
DESCRIPTION:Tasting wines blind is the best way to improve your palate. But three things often stand in the way – it can be costly\, it takes up time\, and it can be intimidating. \nOur monthly blind tasting sessions eliminate all of these obstacles\, because for 1 hour it’s just between you and what’s in the glass! Simply book in\, turn up\, taste and expand your tasting ability\, with guidance from Sommeliers Australia’s host Chris Entwistle (Bibendum).  At the conclusion of each bracket\, Chris will give a short summary on the key pointers for the tasting of the wine\, and how to get to the correct conclusions.
