SUMMARY:[WA] Blind Tasting Group #9
DESCRIPTION:Tastings can be the best way to improve your palate. But three things often stand in the way – it can be costly\, it takes up time\, and it can be intimidating. Our monthly blind tasting sessions eliminate all of these obstacles\, because for 1 hour it’s just between you and what’s in the glass! Simply book in\, turn up\, taste and expand your tasting ability\, with guidance from Sommeliers Australia’s hosts. At the conclusion of each bracket\, your host will give a short summary on the key pointers for the tasting of the wine\, and how to get to the correct conclusions. \nFour different wines – two whites and two reds – will be tasted each month. Wines are chosen primarily for their typicity and are a mixed bag of varieties\, origins\, quality and price points. \nSuitable for anyone in the industry wanting to practice blind tasting in a structured way\, those studying WSET and CMS\, or anyone looking to shake up their ‘cellar palate’.

SUMMARY:[NSW] Rutherglen Muscat Classification Grid Tasting
DESCRIPTION:The Winemakers of Rutherglen\, Muscat of Rutherglen (MoR) committee is hitting the highway to bring their Rutherglen Muscat classification grid tasting to Sydney\, especially for Sommeliers Australia. \nRich and opulent Muscat of Rutherglen is an international treasure. Impossible to replicate\, thanks to the unique combination of climate\, soils\, old wine stocks that have been nurtured by multiple generations and the skills of the region’s master blenders\, this iconic fortified wine is recognised and revered within Australia and overseas\, keeping the region on the world stage for the past 150 years. \nThere are four classifications that define Muscat of Rutherglen. The classification reflects the variety’s richness\, complexity\, and intensity of flavour. Only wines that meet the requirements of this classification system are awarded the much sought-after Muscat of Rutherglen stamp of authenticity. \nJoin hosts\, Rutherglen winemaking legends\, Jen Pfeiffer (Pfeiffer Wines) and Stephen Chambers (Chambers Rosewood)\, with Sommeliers Australia’s President Louella Mathews (Trippas White Group) as they bring the classification together and uncover the hidden side of this uniquely Australian\, inherently Rutherglen craft. During this exclusive and expansive tasting of 19 muscats\,  you’ll discover the ins and outs of Rutherglen House Styles with this in-depth comparative grid tasting. \nFeaturing iconic Rutherglen muscat producers including\, All Saints Estate\, Chambers Rosewood\, Morris of Rutherglen\, Pfeiffer Wines\, and Stanton & Killeen. \nSeats are seriously limited for this very special event.

SUMMARY:Fire & Vine: Firepop x Wilimee Wines a Vegetarian Journey
DESCRIPTION:Firepop is proud to present an evening dedicated entirely to the art of vegetarian fire-cooking. This exclusive ticketed dinner pairs our grill techniques with the exceptional wines of Wilimee – a Macedon Ranges producer whose regenerative farming philosophy mirrors our own commitment to celebrating ingredients at their finest. \nFirepop are sharing techniques they’ve honed and the preparations that best honour the land’s bounty\, paired with wines from Ben Ranken’s thoughtfully restored vineyard – where organic practices and minimal intervention in the cellar allow site and season to shine through. \nAbout Ben Ranken and Wilimee: \nBen Ranken and his wife Sally Richardson purchased the historic Portree Vineyard in the Macedon Ranges in 2013\, restoring the neglected 600-metre high-altitude site with vines over 40 years old. They renamed it Wilimee\, honouring the nearby ancient Wurundjeri quarry\, Wilimee Mooring\, meaning “Place of Stone Axe.” \nBen’s winemaking roots run deep – his ancestor George Ranken planted some of Australia’s first vines in 1841\, and Ben grew up on a family vineyard in Tumbarumba. He trained under Steve Webber at De Bortoli and worked vintages in Burgundy at Domaine Michel Juillot and at Château Lafleur in Pomerol. \nThe vineyard’s 1982-planted vines grow on rare Cambrian soil (Chardonnay) and ancient granite (Pinot Noir)\, now dry-grown using organic and biodynamic practices. Ben’s approach is minimal intervention: natural ferments\, no fining or filtration\, and moon-cycle racking. “No additives\, only sulphur\, as I believe you spend time growing great fruit\, so why take characters out of the wine.” \nWinner of the 2021 Young Gun of Wine Vigneron Award and holding a James Halliday 5-star rating\, Ben is also known for his unique underwater-aged Pinot Noir\, matured under 5 metres of pressure for five years. \nWhat Awaits You: \nAn evening with winemaker Ben Ranken himself\, who will personally guide you through each wine pairing\, sharing the stories behind Wilimee’s journey from restoration to recognition\nSignature vegetarian preparations showcasing fire-cooking techniques curated by chef Raymond Hou\nBen’s insights into his minimal intervention winemaking – from natural ferments and moon-cycle racking to his remarkable underwater-aged Pinot Noir experiment\nEach course paired with Wilimee wines – from their elegant Rosé and Fiano to estate Chardonnays and the distinctive Pinot Noirs from both Macedon Ranges and Tumbarumba\nChef Raymond’s insights into how fire unlocks the character of seasonal vegetables and plant-based ingredients\nThe story of Wilimee’s regenerative approach – dry-grown vines on ancient Cambrian and granite soils\, biodynamic practices\, and the patient restoration of one of Macedon Ranges’ oldest vineyard \nDate: Tuesday\, 18th November 2025\nTime: from 5:30pm\nPrice: $150 (wine pairings included) \nBook now.

SUMMARY:[QLD] Blind Tasting Group #7
DESCRIPTION:Tasting wines blind is the best way to improve your palate. \n
