DESCRIPTION:SIX-WEEK ACCREDITED COURSE\nSTUDENTS MUST BOOK IN BY 3RD OF FEB 2023. \nThe WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner- to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines\, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts. This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. You will gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world\, the regions in which they are grown\, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory\, you will explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence. \nWine tasting is a part of every session. There is a strong European focus. \n  \nThis course runs for 5 consecutive Tuesdays from the 7th February 2023 to the 7th of March 2023 6:30pm – 8:30pm with an Intensive Saturday on 18th of February 2023 11am – 6pm. \nDetailed Course Dates and Times: \n– Tuesdays on 07/02/2023\, 14/02/2023\, 21/02/2023\, 28/02/2023\, 07/03/2023. This course is highly accessible and suitable for wine enthusiasts who simply enjoy tasting Italian wine or wine professionals who want to enhance their wine knowledge in this particular field and gain an accreditation.\nAs a foundation course\, the IWS Prep is delivered in the format of a series of four x 2.5 hour classes with extensive premium wine tasting. You will learn the country’s wine styles glass by glass! The course provides an introduction to Italy\, explores its key wine regions and delivers core information on 39 of the country’s need-to-know wines. It is your passport to understanding Italian wine! \nCost of the course is $680\, which includes: \n\nA beautifully designed 125-page course book\, content rich with language aids and maps.\nOne year access to high-quality e-learning reference material designed to enrich the course and support different learning styles.\nA multiple-choice questions exam. (optional)\n\n  \nThis course is delivered over four sessions on the following dates: \n22/02/2023: 6:30pm – 9pm – Introduction and Sparkling Wine of Italy \n01/03/2023: 6:30pm – 9pm – Northern Italian Reds and Whites \n08/03/2023: 6:30pm – 9pm – Central Italian Reds and Whites \n15/03/2023: 6:30pm – 9pm – Southern Italian Reds and Whites \n22/03/2023: 6:30pm – Exam  \nThe exam is comprised of 50 multiple-choice questions in 45 minutes and on passing students receive a certificate\, pin and ‘IWSprep’ post-nominal. \n  \nLocation: Wine House Upstairs Tasting Rooms\, 133 Queensbridge St\, Southbank. \n  \nPlease note: No refunds will be issued within 10 working days prior to the start of the course. With the support of NSW Wine we’re bringing three regional sommelier “Warriors” to Sydney for a region vs. region showdown! \nThe “Warrior of NSW Wine” title holder will be decided on by those in the dining arena\, on Sunday 26 February at The Old Clare Hotel. \nThe battlelines have been drawn by three of NSW’s most talented sommeliers\, who will showcase wines from their ‘home’ region: \nGabby Fury (Grafted Wines) representing northern NSW & surrounds \nDavid Collins (Charred Kitchen & Bar\, Orange) representing western NSW & surrounds \nLucas Woods (ex-Aubergine\, Canberra) representing southern NSW\, Canberra & districts\, & surrounds \n  \nThe challenge will be for each “Warrior” to each present three NSW wines to match three courses prepared by the talented Jarrod Walsh (ex-Hartsyard) and team. \nAccompanying the three course ‘battle rounds’ will be an aperitif on arrival\, plus a glass of something delicious to match a cheese course.
