The 2022 exam will be offered in both Melbourne and Sydney\, and is a major opportunity for sommeliers in Australia to gain international accreditation. \nThe exam will be run by Sommeliers Australia\, and gives Sommeliers Australia ‘Professional’ members working as sommeliers the opportunity to achieve an internationally recognised standard of sommellerie. \nThe ‘International ASI Diploma for Sommelier ‘certification exam has been created to help: \n\nDevelop the Sommelier profession;\nEnhance the quality of Sommeliers worldwide;\nEstablish international standards for Sommeliers.\n\n  \nCANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY \nCandidates must be fully financial Sommeliers Australia ‘Professional’ members\, working as a sommelier (in restaurants\, wine bars\, wine retail\, distribution\, etc)\, with at least 3 years sommelier experience. \nCandidates must have completed at least WSET Level 3 or CMS Certified OR have equivalent industry experience. \nCandidates can sit the exam in English\, French or Spanish (the three official ASI languages). However\, candidates who complete the exam in their native language\, will only be eligible to receive the Bronze level of accreditation. This event to celebrate International Women’s Day was conceived by Sommeliers Australia President Sarah Andrew\, and generously supported by the Champagne Bureau Australia\, to recognise the work that Sommeliers Australia’s in doing in the Diversity and Inclusion space\, in creating a safe and inclusive workspace for all sommeliers regardless of gender or identity. \nThe technical discussion will cover the importance of the diverse gender roles within the Champagne industry and while some names have world-wide recognition\, others are less known but equally important to the success of Champagne internationally; highlighting the balanced view of Champagne vineyards and Champagne production in recognising talented and creative winemakers from across Champagne. \nAs part of the technical discussion\, also on offer is an opportunity to taste a specially selected Champagne Cuvée focusing on diversity in the Champagne region as a whole and the role of female winemakers. \nFour special Cuvées for the tasting have been selected from both the Grower and House categories and from across the region to shine a spotlight on the diversity of Champagne found in the region.
