DESCRIPTION:BECOME AN ITALIAN WINE SCHOLAR \nThe Wine Scholar Guild is an highly regarded\, internationally recognised Wine Education body which provides in depth insight into specific wine producing countries. \nThe Italian Wine Scholar prep course is a 4 session course designed to address the needs of the inquisitive wine enthusiast and aspiring wine professional alike. As a foundation course\, IWS Prep remains accessible but is content-rich and full of cultural highlights and fine Italian wine. \nThe course provides an introduction to Italy\, explores its key wine regions and delivers core information on 39 of the country’s need-to-know wines. \nIWS Prep is your passport to understanding Italian wine. \n  \nThis course is delivered over four sessions on the following dates; \n03/03/22: 6:30pm – 8:30pm – Introduction and Sparkling Wine of Italy \n05/03/22: 12pm – 3pm – Northern Italian Reds and Whites \n10/03/22: 6:30pm – 9:00pm – Central Italian Reds and Whites \n17/03/22: 6:30pm – 9:00pm – Southern Italian Reds and Whites \n31/03/22: 6:30pm – Exam \n  \nLocation: Wine House Upstairs Tasting Rooms\, 133 Queensbridge St\, Southbank \n  \nPremium wine tasting is a feature of each session\, along with valuable insight into the content along with learning aids. The price of the course includes access to the IWSprep online resources for 1 year. \nThe exam consists of a 45 minute multiple choice theory paper and on passing students receive a certificate\, pin and ‘IWSprep’ post-nominal. \n* Only available to fully vaccinated patrons\, in line with Victorian Government COVID-19 directives. \nPlease note: No refunds will be issued within 10 working days prior to the start of the course. Before that period a 75% refund is allowed if a student cancels their enrolment. A 100% refund will apply if Wine House cancels. DESCRIPTION:By invitation only\nThe Advanced Sommelier Certificate course is intended for persons with extensive wine service experience and who wish to develop their knowledge and service skills to a higher level. \nProspective candidates should be aware that the level is significantly higher than the Certified Sommelier Certificate and that it is\, therefore\, necessary to carry out considerable study in preparation for this course. \nThe programme is conducted over five days\, with the final two and a half days devoted to examinations. \nThe lectures are presented by Master Sommeliers using a power-point format interspersed with a number of wine tastings\, plus a practical service demonstration. \nCandidates who satisfactorily gain this certificate will be able to: \n\nDiscuss\, recommend and serve aperitifs\, spirits and liqueurs\, displaying a sound knowledge of the products.\nSelect\, prepare and position glassware necessary for the service of drinks in the lounge\, restaurant\, function room or private suite.\nPresent\, offer\, prepare (decanting where necessary) and serve wines\, demonstrating a high degree of efficiency and proficiency.\nDiscuss menu content and wine lists\, recommending wines to accompany food\, displaying a sound knowledge of the products\, their vintages and characteristics.\nHandle queries and complaints with skill and diplomacy.\nDemonstrate a sound knowledge of Beverage Management including an ability to train beverage servers.\nDemonstrate an ability to sell.\nOrally describe the characteristics of wines.\nAnalyse classic styles of wine\, identifying where appropriate\, grape varieties\, country and district of origin\, vintage and quality level.\n\n  \nDate:                      March 6 – 10\, 2022 \nAvailability:             Fully Booked – applications closed \n  \nFor more information please contact the Court of Master Sommeliers Oceania: info@courtofmastersommeliers.com.au
