SUMMARY:[VIC] WSET Level 1 Award in Wines Online
DESCRIPTION:Learn about wines through a 4 week online study programme that is flexible to work around your existing commitments. The Level 1 Award in Wines Online covers the same syllabus as the classroom course\, but through a supported and interactive Online Classroom. \nYou will learn how to taste wine using a systematic approach and be able to identify the main styles of wine. You’ll also learn to apply these to your own food and wine choices. \nAs you work through the course you will be asked to share your learning experience with the rest of the course group\, by sharing your tasting notes. Tasting is an essential part of studying for this course\, and you will need to taste a minimum of 6 wines (can be provided at a discounted price of $150). \nThe course covers: \n\nThe main types and styles of wine\nCommon wine grapes and their characteristics\nHow to make food and wine pairings\nOnline tasting of six wines with educator feedback (students to provide their own samples)\nHow to store and serve wine\nHow to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)\n\nNo prior knowledge is required. The course is delivered online and in English therefore basic computer literacy\, internet navigation skills and a good level of English are required. \nThe course is delivered online over four weeks from the 4th of May to the 31st of May. \nA minimum of three hours study per week recommended to successfully complete the course. Regular access and participation is essential. \nExam to be held at Wine House Australia\, 133 Queensbridge Street\, Southbank VIC 3006 on the 30th of July at 6pm. Please note the student is still required to physically come to our venue to take the exam. The exam date is subject to change due to Covid-19. \nA minimum of three hours study per week recommended to successfully complete the course. Regular access and participation is essential. \nThe cost of $255 includes access to our Online Classroom\, online tuition and examination. \nAdditionally we offer a selected 6 pack of Wines for the tasting component of the course at a discounted rate of $150 \nPlease note: no refunds will be issued within 10 working days prior to the start of the course. Before that period a 75% refund is allowed if a student cancels their enrolment. A 100% refund will apply if Wine House cancels. DESCRIPTION:Study for the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines online – the ideal course for those who want to learn about a wide range of wines. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world\, the regions in which they are grown\, and the styles of wine they produce. \nThe Level 2 Award in Wines Online covers the same syllabus as the classroom course\, but through a supported Online Classroom. \nAs you work through the course you will be asked to share your learning experience with the rest of the course group\, looking at what wine labels tell you about the contents of the bottle and sharing tasting notes. Tasting is an essential part of studying for this course\, and you will need to taste a minimum of 8 wines (we can provide this 8 pack for you). \nThrough a combination of tasting and theory\, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence \nNo prior knowledge is required and you don’t have to have completed any other qualification to enrol. \nThe course is delivered online and in English therefore basic computer literacy\, internet navigation skills and a good level of English are required. \nThe course is delivered online over five weeks from the 11th of May to the 14th of June.\nA minimum of six hours study per week is recommended to successfully complete the course. Regular access and participation is essential. \nThe exam will be held at Wine House Australia\, 133 Queensbridge Street\, Southbank VIC 3006 on the 16th of June at 6pm. Please note students are still required to physically come to our venue to take the exam. It is an essential wine qualification. \nUnit 1 \n\nThe key factors in the production of wine: location\, grape growing\, winemaking\, maturation and bottling\nThe key characteristics of the principal:\n– still wines of the world\n– sparkling wines of the world\n– fortified wines of the world\nHow to apply your understanding to make authoritative recommendations\n\nUnit 2 \n\nHow to taste wines and evaluate quality\, identity and price\, using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)\nA one-on-one Tasting Tutorial via Zoom/Skype\nOnline tastings of a minimum of 12 general styles of wines (we do offer a pack of 18 at a discounted price of $900 or 12 for $600)\n\n  \nThe course is delivered online over 9 weeks from the 11th of May to the 12th of July. \nYou materials will be sent to your address. \nA minimum of 10 hours study per week recommended to successfully complete the course.
