DESCRIPTION:THIS IS AN INTENSIVE FORMAT COURSE \nCANDIDATES SHOULD AIM TO COLLECT THEIR MATERIAL AT LEAST 3 WEEKS IN ADVANCE TO FAMILIARIZE THEMSELVES WITH THE LEVEL 3 CONTENT. \nPAYMENT IN INSTALMENTS IS AVAILABLE PLEASE CONTACT courses@winehouse.com.au \nThe Advanced Certificate qualification is designed to give a thorough understanding of the principal wines of the world\, and their commercial importance in the world’s liquor market. \nThe qualification will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of wines\, with regard to their commercial value in the retail and hospitality industry. It also provides candidates with an in-depth understanding of wine styles\, wine regions\, grape varieties\, and wine production methods. Holders of the WSET level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wines will be able to describe the characteristics of the principle wines of the world and give information on the key factors influencing style\, quality and value. \nThe qualified student will also be in a position to advise management\, to answer customer queries authoritatively\, and to make informed selections of wines in a variety of situations. The Course is also suitable for keen enthusiasts wanting to continue their wine studies in a structured manner. \nThe course covers the following: \n– Tasting Techniques \n– Burgundy and Alsace \n– Bordeaux and South West France \n– Loire\, Rhone and Southern France \n– Germany\, Austria\, Hungary \n– Italy \n– Spain and Portugal \n– USA\,Canada and Chile\, \n– Greece\, Argentina and South Africa \n– Sparkling wines \n– Fortified wine \nPalate training is part of every lesson. \nThe course will run as an intensive course from Saturday the 9th of November to Friday the 15th of November 11am – 5pm and Saturday the 16th of November\, 11am – 6pm (PLEASE NOTE: NO CLASS ON SUNDAY THE 10th November). \nThe examination will be held on the 29th of November at 1pm and finish approximately at 4pm. \nWe recommend students download and read the specification here prior to booking. \nPlease note: No refunds will be issued within 10 working days prior to the start of the course. Through a combination of tasting and theory\, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence. \nWine tasting is a part of every session\, there is a strong European focus. \nThis course runs for three days from Monday the 25th of November to Wednesday the 27th of November 11am – 6pm with the examination on Wednesday the 27th of November at 4:30pm. \nCourse Programme: \n– How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT) \n– How environmental factors\, grape-growing\, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties: Chardonnay\, Pinot Grigio/ Gris\, Sauvignon Blanc\, Riesling\, Cabernet Sauvignon\, Merlot\, Pinot Noir\, Syrah/Shiraz \n– The style and quality of wines: made from 22 regionally important grape varieties; produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world \n– How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of: Sparkling wines\, Fortified wines \n– Key labelling terms used to indicate origin\, style and quality \n– Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine \nPlease note: no refunds will be issued within 10 working days prior to the start of the course.
