Wine Tasmania Visitation Scholarship 2017

Applications close 5pm, Monday 12 June

As part of a new partnership between Wine Tasmania and Sommeliers Australia, 'Sommelier' members of Sommeliers Australia are invited to apply to participate in a visit to Tasmania in July 2017. As part of the 2017 visitation program, two places in the group of ten participants will be reserved exclusively for two lucky Sommeliers Australia members.

This could be your chance to taste your way around the island, spending two days meeting wine producers and tasting their wines, whilst soaking up the breathtaking scenery of the island. Close to half of Tasmania's modest wine production is only available on-island, so visiting is the best way to find out more about this unique island and the wines it produces.

Application criteria and how to apply
Whilst Wine Tasmania would love to have ALL applicants visit (they really would!), they only have ten places in total for this annual program, two of which are exclusively reserved for the two selected Sommeliers Australia scholars in 2017.

Anyone wanting to apply will need to complete a simple application form by 5pm on Monday 12 June. Applicants must be in a position of authority for wine purchasing decisions and available to travel to Tasmania on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 July 2017. To be eligible for the two dedicated Sommeliers Australia places, you must be a current financial 'Sommelier' member of Sommeliers Australia.

A selection panel will review applications and confirmed participants will be announced by Monday 26 June.
What the Visitation Scholarship covers
The Visitation Scholarship covers return economy airfares from the applicant's closest capital city, one night accommodation, transport within Tasmania, meals on both days and activities that form part of the official itinerary. Participants will be responsible for any other costs incurred.
Participants will be asked to provide a brief report (250 words) following the visit, which will be published and shared with the wine community, and will also be invited to attend and get involved in the VIN Diemen 2017 events (Saturday 12 August - Sydney and Sunday 13 August - Melbourne) as relevant.
